Located within Adelaide’s inner eastern suburbs, this project involved the sensitive extension of a character bluestone villa to accommodate the evolving needs of a young family.

Working within a constrained site and stringent heritage requirements, a new two-storey addition was designed to provide expanded living, laundry and bathroom spaces at ground level, with two additional bedrooms above. The existing kitchen and formal rooms were also considered as part of the broader reorganisation of the home.

Light-filled contemporary spaces sit in deliberate contrast to the solidity and texture of the original bluestone villa. The distinction between old and new creates a clear architectural narrative, allowing each stage of the home’s history to remain legible while supporting a more generous way of living.
